USATT Southwest Regional Table Tennis Championships Opens 2025 Regional Championships Series

The Southwest Regional Table Tennis Championships, the first in the 2025 USATT Regional Championship Series, held from March 14-16, delivered an action-packed weekend of elite table tennis competition. Hosted by the Houston International Table Tennis Academy, the tournament brought together almost 200 top-ranked players and hobbyists alike from across the U.S., playing for titles, fun and a chance to earn points towards US National Junior Team Qualification.

Li Kewei emerged victorious in the Men’s Single’s division, overcoming Carlos Hernandez in the finals. On the Women’s Single’s side, Yuan Ting Liang took top honors over rising junior star Irene Yeoh. Irene Yeoh, the almost 14-year-old from California, was the standout player of the event, winning the U15 and U17 Girls events, finishing 3^rd in the U19 Girls event in addition to her finalist finish in the Women’s Singles event.

Participants in the event lauded the tournament organization, saying that the organizers hard work was appreciated, and that they would be back in the future. The Regional Championship Series provides a high level, yet accessible and more local option for players who are unable to travel to the US Nationals or US Open.

Four more Regional Tournaments are scheduled to take place in May:

• Pacific Regional Championships – Milpitas, CA – May 2-4^th
• Northeast Regional Championships – Pleasantville, NY– May 10-11^th
• Midwest Regional Championships – Plain City, OH - May 17-18^th
• Southeast Regional Championships – Davie, FL - May 23-26^th

Registration remains open for all Regional Championships. Players from across the country can participate in all Regions to enjoy a high-level event in an accessible space.
