Kanamitsu and Ando Capture 2024 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles Gold

Las Vegas, Nev. – On the second day of competition, Koyo Kanamitsu and Minami Ando captured the 2024 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles title. Kanamitsu and Ando defeated the top seeded pair Masaki Takami and Fuwa Yumoto 3-2 (6-11, 13-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-7).


Throughout the match, Kanamitsu and Ando were aware of strength of their opponents return service. Especially Takami’s banana flick return and ability to set up point finishing shots.

The Japanese teams showcased a combination of technical precision and powerful forehand finishes during the thrilling finals match. Astonishingly, it was Kanamitsu’s first mixed doubles event, and he was able to secure gold at 2024 U.S. Open.

U21 Singles

In U21 Women's Singles, Yuanxinai Yuan dominated the finals with a 3-0 victory over Youruo Wu to claim gold.

In U21 Men's Singles, Yuan-Yu Wu secured the title by defeating Silva Senura in another commanding 3-0 finish.

Para Events

Four Para Singles champions emerged on Day 2:

Class 1-2 Singles: Michael Godfrey defeated James Segrest for gold.

Class 3-5 Singles: Jenson Van Emburgh won against Zachary Pickett.

Class 6-8 Singles: Viktor Karp bested Rosenast in the final.

Class 8-10 Singles: Tahl Leibovitz swept Logan Watson to close out the Para events.

Anticipation was high as the Open Men’s and Women’s Singles Championships began on Day 2.

The Women’s Singles round-robin matches kicked off in the early afternoon, reducing the field to the Round of 32 by the end of the day.

The Men’s Singles event began later in the evening with 380 participants. By the day’s end, the field was down to 128 players heading into the single-elimination draw.
