Paris France - July 28, 2024 - The veteran of the U.S. Olympic table tennis team made her debut in South Paris Arena 4 in her round of 64 match against Mariana Sahakian from Lebanon. The two had never played each other before, but it was Lily who adjusted quickly to overcome Sahakian 4-0 in the packed arena.

For the first time in 8 years, Lily had the opportunity to play an Olympic Games in front of all her family and closest friends who were unmistakable in the crowd shouting “Let’s go Lily”! Buoyed by their cheers and by the occasion, Lily played free and fun throughout the match, even lobbing which she says “I don’t normally do.”

Playing at the same time as host nation’s Felix Lebrun was challenging for an opening match, as the cheers for France were so loud Lily “couldn’t even hear the ball bounce.” However, the now 4-time Olympian enjoyed being out on the court, smiling and waving after she won to the crowd and her fans.

Lily plays her round of 32 match on July 29th at 9 PM local time against Bruna Takahashi (BRA). Two of the most well knownplayers from the Pan Am region meet in an Olympic battle – the head to head stands at 5 wins for Lily and 8 wins for Bruna.
