[Colorado Springs, CO, August 29, 2024] – USA Table Tennis (“USATT”) announces new processes for sanctioning tournaments that simplify and streamline the experience for tournament directors. These changes support USATT’s strategic ambitions of increasing the number of sanctioned events throughout the country to encourage more competitive play for all members.

The two key changes to the sanctioning process are:

  • New sanction request form submitted directly from the website with fewer questions and simpler entry (no need to email Excel document to USATT HQ and Tournament Coordinator)
  • Consolidation of regions to align with USATT’s Regional Championship events, reducing the number of Tournament Coordinators from 8 to 5 (See list of new regions in appendix)

The new sanction request form sets specific minimum requirements for each star designation assigned to a tournament, which provides more information to participants than previously. Upon submission of the form, the respective tournament coordinator and Tina Ren at USATT HQ will receive the request and ensure that all required fields have been filled and that the minimums are met for the chosen star designation.

This new process for tournament sanctioning will be effective IMMEDIATELY.

Tournament Directors who are looking to sanction a tournament can go to the USA Table Tennis Tournament Sanctioning page for the link to the new sanctioning form.
