USATT Ranking System Explained

  1. The USATT Rankings is an objective merit-based method used to provide information about a player’s performance in the past 24 months at specific USATT sanctioned high level tournaments.
  2. The USATT Rankings are composed of the following lists:
    1. Adult Men’s Singles
    2. Adult Women’s Singles
    3. Junior Boy’s Singles* (U19, U17, U15, U13, U11)
    4. Junior Girl’s Singles* (U19, U17, U15, U13, U11)
    5. Senior Men’s Singles* (O30, O40, O50, O60, O65, O70, O75, O80, O85)
    6. Senior Women’s Singles* (O30, O40, O50, O60, O65, O70, O75, O80, O85)
      *Each age group will have their own ranking list
  3. Players are ranked when having non-expired points awarded at sanctioned Ranking tournaments with qualifying events
  4. Ranking points are awarded at sanctioned Ranking tournaments with qualifying events
  5. Ranking will be based on points accumulated over the most recent 24 months of competition
    1. Points will retain 100% value 0–12-month period
    2. Points will be reduced to 50% original value for the 13–24-month period
  6. The ranking of a player is based on the sum of the points from all competitions with non-expired results with the following exceptions
    1. A maximum of the best result counting for the ranking from USATT Regionals (e.g., participation in multiple USATT Regionals is allowed, but only your best finish will count towards your ranking)
    2. A maximum of your best result counting from Ranking Tournaments (formerly US Team Trials) (e.g., participation in multiple Ranking Tournaments is encouraged, but only your best finish will count towards your ranking)
  7. Every player must win at least one match to be eligible to earn the points.
  1. The following tournaments are sanctioned in the USATT Rankings for events related to the lists. (e.g., Men’s Singles is ranked but U2400 is not ranked within the same tournament)
    • U.S. Nationals
    • U.S. Open
    • USATT Regional Championships
    • USATT State Opens
    • USATT State Championships
    • Ranking Tournaments (formerly U.S. Team Trials)
    • U.S. Open Teams Championship (new in 2025)
  2. Points are awarded for each tournament based on their significance:
    1. U.S. Nationals – 8x Ranking Points
    2. U.S. Open – 8x Ranking Points
    3. USATT Regional Championships – 3x Ranking Points
    4. USATT State Opens – 2x Ranking Points
    5. USATT State Championships – 1x Ranking Points (base weight)
    6. Ranking Tournaments (formerly U.S. Team Trials)
      • 1st-8th Placement Ranking Points
      • 2nd Stage Ranking Points
      • 1st Stage Ranking Points
    7. U.S. Open Teams Championships (new in 2025)
      • Division 1 – 2x (16 Ranking Points per win)
      • Division 2 – 1x (8 Ranking Points per win)
