New Gluing Rule and Racket Testing [top^]
All events at US Nationals will be subject to random racket testing.
The racket test will consistofchecking for flatness, glossiness, thickness, presence of VOC’s, and anything that changes the characteristics of the rubbers.
The ITTF Equipment Committee recommends that new rubber be removed from its packaging & air for at least 72 hours prior to usage. This will get rid of any residual VOC’s from the rubber sponge glue.
Volunteer racket testing will be conducted at the venue at 6:30PM Tues. at our National Championships, with no consequences to the individuals.
If a rubber sheet on a racket is found to be loose at the edges during inspection by either the other player (un-umpired match) or by the umpire, the players should bring this to the attention of the referee or his deputies. The referee will decide if the paddle needs a quick gluing of the loose rubber. The complete re-gluing of that side will not be permitted. All players are advised to carry a spare racket with them. If the first racket is disqualified by the referee or his deputies before a match, he/she will have to either use the spare racket or have one handed to them at the table. The spare racket will be tested after the match is over.
All players are required to glue only at the special gluing area located outside the venue.
